Client Feature: Morgan Brunelli

Posted on: 03-6-2013 Posted in: Uncategorized

Meet Morgan! Morgan has been a dedicated Harmony client for the past six months, and raves about the benefits of Pilates, especially if you have ever struggled with back pain or injury. We wanted to learn more about her, so enjoy!

How did you discover Pilates?

My friend, Carly*, has been a Harmony devotee for years. Then, after I had back surgery, I decided to give it a shot to help me strengthen my core.

What classes do you take at Harmony?

I take Open Level Mat on Wednesdays w/Laura, Cardio Core Circuit on Mondays w/Tara and Xtend Barre®. When I’m able to, I take a Reformer I or private session.

How has Pilates changed your life for the better? How does it differ from other workouts you have done in the past?

After recovering from back surgery due to a herniated disc, I needed to work on strengthening my core, so I decided to try Pilates. I noticed that after two months my back pain became a lot more infrequent, and now after six months, I have almost no back pain at all. I’ve honestly never felt better! I feel that with Pilates I get the stretching and strengthening, but with yoga I only got the stretching. Now, I also feel more sturdy when I run.

What is your favorite Pilates exercise? Favorite prop?

I don’t get to do it very often, but I love anything on the Reformer. In mat classes, I love using the toning balls. Then I feel like I get a great arm workout too!

Do you have any fun tips to share about getting through our long Chicago winters without going crazy?

Although I think winter can be hard on your mood, I suggest doing little things that make you happy. For me, it’s a lot of Pilates, coffee, reading and time with family and friends!

*We miss Carly! She is currently living abroad, and was a super dedicated Harmony client while in Chicago!
